Students in Grades 9-12 are required to complete 20 hours of community service each year to graduate.  Community service completed during the summer is included (Note: Seniors must have their hours completed by the last day of school).  Students are to track these hours and have them signed off by the appropriate supervisor.  The Community Service Hours Record Form is located on this page.  Students can volunteer at school, at church, or in the community.

UPDATE: COVID-19

During the Coronavirus pandemic, we want to ensure the safety and health of our students.  Here is an idea of something our students can do from the safety of their home.  You can mail thank you cards to encourage people in our community.  You may have a parent sign off on your hours.  During this crisis, you have an opportunity to bring hope and encouragement to people.  The Bible reminds us that our words can make a difference.  Proverbs 15:4 – Gentle words are a tree of life.  Proverbs 16:24 – Kind words are like honey, sweet to the soul and healthy to the body.  Words are life giving.  Words have power.  During this very difficult time, people are battling fear and stress.  Let your words increase their faith.  Do not underestimate how God can use your cards.  Receiving a unexpected card from someone can change the direction of their life.

We have options available so you do not have to pay postage on your cards.  We can coordinate a time for you to drop off your cards to the school (i.e., you can place the cards in your trunk and we can take them out).  You can write one card for the entire facility or you can write multiple cards for various departments or individuals.  You can contact one of the below locations to ask how many departments/employees/residents they have so you can decide how many cards you would like to write.  Let us know if you have any questions.  Thank you so much for spreading hope during this challenging time.  We are praying for you and your families.

Below is a table of options on where you can send your cards.  Here are some ideas of what you can include in your cards:

·         You can create your own card by hand or on the computer

·         Include an encouraging Bible verse or daily devotion

·         Draw a picture to include in your card

·         Include a motivational quote

·         Thank them for the work they do

·         Let them know you appreciate them

·         Let them know you are praying for them and their families

·         End your letter with a prayer for their health and safety
